Some time back, I watched this Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush starrer movie “Shamitabh”. In this movie, Dhanush plays the role of a dumb person who is in search of person who can become his voice. And then, Dhanush and Akshara start taking the auditions. Many people come but nobody’s voice could match the level that Dhanush and Akshara expected. And suddenly, they hear some voice from behind. A voice that sounded really impressive, modulated and had a peculiar style. They both turned around, and saw Amitabh Bachchan standing in front of them.
It seems that no one else could take Amitabh Bachchan’s role in this movie. He is the one who has that strength in his voice, the unique baritone. In this movie, when Amitabh Bachchan is asked if he would want to become Dhanush’s voice, he laughs and talks about earlier days. He says that though you are appreciating my voice today but there was a time when I was rejected because of this voice. Yes, in a radio audition test he was rejected saying that his heavy voice would not sound good to the radio listeners. And this is not just in the movie; this is his real life incident. A voice that was once rejected has become people’s favourite now.
Not only this, Amitabh's exceptionally tall looks also proved to be a negative point for him in earlier days. Many film-makers thought that at 6 feet 3 inches he was too tall.
Rejections are a part of life. What is more important is to learn to rise from these rejections. Rather than getting demotivated and giving up after a failure, we must work harder for the next time. Keep faith in yourself. This is what Amitabh did. He focused on his strengths, he worked on his acting and now his deep baritone voice and his tall height have now become his trademarks and are admired by all.
